"Without fear we want to set sail for the digital sea, facing the open waters with the same passion that has governed the ship of the church for two thousand years." - Pope Bendict XVI

Centennial Music

In honor of our parish's centennial anniversary, we commissioned local composer Peter Hesed to craft a new song on the Epiphany of Our Lord, including new words and music. This song premiered on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 2, 2011. The piece is a wonderful addition to the repertoire of this great solemnity--the words present a rich theology and the tune is beautiful and worthy. Many thanks to Peter and all who made this commission possible.

EPIPHANY SONG
by Peter Hesed

The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us and we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only begotten son, full of grace and truth.

1. Your light, O God, is visible to all who dwell on earth;
Your love for all is manifest in Jesus’ humble birth.
The magi travelled far to find your son, our human brother;
May we extend ourselves and seek the good of one another.

2. From darkness and iniquity we turn to face your light;
Your children, we experience your favor and delight.
In Jordan’s waters, Jesus knelt; The heav’ns were torn asunder;
Your Spirit hovered o’er the earth, Your voice rolled forth like thunder.

3. You come to us Emanuel, pursuing us in love;
You share in our humanity that we might dwell above.
At Cana Mary prompted, then you offered all a sign
Revealing God’s abundance there in choice and plenteous wine.

4. O God of all reality, Of ev’ry time and place,
Today and here we celebrate your infinite embrace.
Now may your Church to all proclaim their dignity and worth
Revealing to humanity the Christ who dwells on earth.
