The teaching of the Church on racism is clear. "Racism is a sin: a sin that divides the human family, blots out the image of God among specific members of that family and violates the fundamental human dignity of those called to be children of the same Father." (Brothers and Sisters to Us, statement of the U.S. Catholic Bishops)
In April of 2000, the bishops of Illinois wrote a joint statement on the challenge of racism in modern society called Moving Beyond Racism: Learning to See with the Eyes of Christ Brothers and Sisters in Christ. It's well worth reading.
